EIGHT more Lidls could be on their way to Kingston borough as the grocery store wants to double its number of shops across the UK.

The supermarket is interested in opening 99 more stores in South London alone and has released a list of sites in Kingston where it would like to expand.

These are (in alphabetical order):

- Chessington East

- Chessington North

- Kingston East

- Kingston Town Centre

- Norbiton

- Surbiton

- Tolworth

- Worcester Park

To be clear, these are only sites that Lidl is interested in expanding to and no new stores have been confirmed in these areas yet.

The supermarket currently has two stores in the borough, one on Blagdon Road in New Malden and another in Chessington on Leatherhead Road.

On its website's property page Lidl wrote: "We want to double our portfolio. To continue our phenomenal growth we require further sites across the country.

"These pages highlight locations that particularly interest us. We will however consider opportunities in addition to those areas listed."

The supermarket has said it would ideally like locations in or out of town, with good traffic flow and pedestrian access.

It is seeking freehold, leasehold or long leasehold sites and is open to converting existing buildings into Lidl supermarkets.
