Kingston upon Thames has seen a population increase of 1.12% between mid-2023 and mid-2024, according to newly released national estimates.

The borough's population is now estimated at 172,692, up from 170,780 the previous year.

Kingston sits roughly in the middle of the UK's 361 local authority areas, where 342 experienced growths, 18 saw a decline, and one remained unchanged.

Kingston's increase is not as dramatic as some areas, with the City of London topping the list with an 11.06% rise.

However, it reflects an upwards trend which is consistent across Greater London and the Southeast.

Nearby Richmond upon Thames grew by just 0.31%, while inner London boroughs like Lambeth and Kensington & Chelsea saw declines.
