Kingston rooftop bar could extend operating hours
By Tilly O'Brien 18th Feb 2026
A rooftop bar in Kingston has submitted a licensing application to Kingston Council hoping to extend the terminal hour for licensable activities on Wednesdays to Saturdays.
Sonnys, which is located on Kingston's Riverside Walk and first opened in July last year, wants to increase the terminal hour for licensable activities (sale of alcohol on and off the premises), recorded music and live music on Wednesdays and Thursdays to 11.30pm and on Fridays and Saturdays to 12.30am the following day.
It also wants to add late night refreshments on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11pm to 11.30pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm to 12.30am the following day.
Additionally, Sonnys wishes to extend the hours the premises can be open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays until midnight and on Fridays and Saturdays until 1am the following day.
To help prevent any public nuisance that may be caused by these extended hours, Sonnys says it will:
Ensure that the noise limiter installed is reset/recalibrated to take into account the different noise profile when the canopy on the roof terrace is not in place.
There shall be at least one door supervisor on the terrace from 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays when the terrace is open for the purposes of monitoring customer behaviour.
A telephone number for the duty manager shall be made available to local residents living on the opposite side of the river.
The premises licence holder shall arrange six monthly meetings with residents living on the opposite side of the river.
The premises shall adopt a revised noise management plan which shall be reviewed periodically and updated where necessary in consultation with residents, police and Environmental Health.
Local residents have until Friday, 27 February to submit representations on this application and can do so here.
