Kingston restaurant moves from zero food-hygiene rating to top rating

A Brazilian restaurant in Kingston has recently received the highest possible rating (five) from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) after receiving a score of zero in March this year.
When inspecting Esquina Brasil's food hygiene handling, cleanliness and condition of building and facilities, and management of food safety, the agency stated that in all areas "major improvement [is] necessary".
However, after a recent inspection, the restaurant scored five out of five, which Esquina's teams says "reflects the hard work we've put into meeting and exceeding all the required standards".

Speaking about the new rating, the team said: "We are committed to maintaining high standards and ensuring our customers feel confident and reassured when choosing to dine with us.
"We'd love to take this opportunity to warmly invite all locals to come and experience Esquina Brasil for themselves – whether for a relaxed lunch, a family dinner, or just a refreshing drink in the sun."

Esquina brasil took over an empty site, located on Richmond Road, which was plagued with rats, in October 2024 and has completely transformed it.
The restaurant's team added: "We've made substantial improvements, including a beautiful beer garden where we serve a variety of delicious Brazilian food, drinks, and cocktails."
