Kingston Police alongside Kingston Council will host a Women's Innovation Hub in December as the borough continues to ensure the prevention of violence against women and girls (VAWG).

The event, which will be held on December 16 between 10am - 4pm at KingsGate Church, will provide residents who use Kingston's public spaces and night time economy, as well as parents of young women and girls, to come and speak to police and local partners regarding their commitment to tackling VAWG.

Commenting on the first Women's Innovation Hub, Kingston Neighbourhood Inspector Trudy Hutchinson, said: "Tackling Violence Against Women & Girls (VAWG) is and will remain a priority for us as a borough. Working closely with our local partners has ensured Kingston remains one of the safest places in London.

"Through partnership working and initiatives we have achieved so much in the last year but we know we can always do more. The Innovation Hub is an opportunity for us and partners to hear peoples voices about their experiences and ideas on our open spaces, Night Time Economy and public safety. It is only through listening and learning from our communities that we will continue in tackling these terrible crimes and bring about the change we all strive for - to stop VAWG."

Inspector Hutchinson continued: "I really hope this new initiative will encourage anyone that lives, work, studies or frequents the Borough to join the discussion and support bring about change to VAWG and keeping Women & Girls safe."
