'White Roses will always remind me of Kingston' - Remembering Her Majesty's royal visit to Kingston in 1992

Yesterday evening, Buckingham Palace announced the passing of Her Majesty. Queen Elizabeth II, aged 96, died at her Balmoral estate in Scotland with members of her family in attendance.

In a statement Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

During the afternoon members of her close family, including her grandson William, Duke of Cambridge; sons Andrew, Duke of York and Edward, Earl of Wessex (and his wife Countess Sophie), arrived at the castle in Aberdeenshire. The four travelled together in a vehicle driven by William. Her grandson, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, was reported to be travelling to Balmoral alone. Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, together with Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, were already at Balmoral.

Kingston residents raise fears over bus route expansion for massive development

Kingston Council has been warned plans to extend a busy London bus route would be 'highly dangerous' for nearby families. 

Transport for London will change route 281's final stop under plans for a huge housing development on the site of old government offices and a famous pub in Surbiton.

Korean Harvest Festival returns to New Malden this weekend

Kingston's Korean Harvest Festival is back for 2022, returning to the streets of New Malden this Saturday (September 10th) with a day full of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, educational language learning opportunities and food stalls. 

Organised by the Korean British Cultural Exchange (KBCE), Harvest Fest kick starts the 7th anniversary of the Kingston Korea Festival 2022 which will also include the Kpop UK National Competition on the 13th November and the Kimjang Festival on 19th November.

The KBCE will host the Harvest Fest in association with the Kingston Chinese Association and Kingston's ESEA (East & Southeast Asian) communities.

Last Sunday (September 4th)saw the highly anticipated return of Kingston Carnival following a two-year hiatus due to the lockdown restrictions imposed by Covid-19. 

Kingston's town centre was filled with residents soaking up the cultural celebrations with a range of music and dance on show as well as a wonderful range of food stalls. 

Organised by Kingston Racial Equalities Council (KREC), the annual festival brings communities together by fostering the promotion of diverse cultures, creative development and enhancement of artistic excellence. 

The carnival's procession started at 12pm and made its way along High Street, Eden Street, Clarence Street and Church Street before finishing at the Ancient Market Place for 1pm.
