Picture special! Some of the best snaps from the long-awaited return of Kingston Carnival

By Eli Haidari 5th Sep 2022

Yesterday afternoon (September 4th) saw the highly anticipated return of Kingston Carnival following a two-year hiatus due to the lockdown restrictions imposed by Covid-19.

Kingston's town centre was filled with residents soaking up the cultural celebrations with a range of music and dance on show as well as a wonderful range of food stalls.

Organised by Kingston Racial Equalities Council (KREC), the annual festival brings communities together by fostering the promotion of diverse cultures, creative development and enhancement of artistic excellence.

The carnival's procession started at 12pm and made its way along High Street, Eden Street, Clarence Street and Church Street before finishing at the Ancient Market Place for 1pm.

Music was performed throughout the afternoon from across the globe including Reggae, Soca, Bangra, Jazz and Funk.
