Kingston trivia quiz ANSWER

Yesterday we asked, True or false: Kingston upon Thames has one of the oldest bridges in the UK.

Now Nub News can reveal the answer is TRUE but it may not be the bridge you're thinking of!

Hidden away on the high street, Kingston's Clattern Bridge over the Hogsmill river dates back to 1175.

While not as old as Exmoor's Barle Bridge - believed to have been built in 1066 - Clattern Bridge is still much more ancient than Kingston's Thames bridge which was constructed in the early 1800s.

Clattern Bridge was possibly named after the 'clattering' of horses hooves over it and replaced an even older Saxon bridge when it was constructed. The Council widened it in the 1850s.

There's a fascinating story behind the bridge and you can read all about it here.
