The nation-wide vaccination programme is set to step up a gear today.

The jab is set to be offered to all those over 70 and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable.

Kingston GP Dr Nick Merrifield has updated residents with the latest vaccine news in the borough.

He said: "NHS staff across London are working really hard to roll out this coronavirus to as many people as quickly as possible.

"We have three hubs set up. One in Kingston, one in New Malden and one in Chessington. If you are registered with a Kingston GP you will be invited to one of these hubs to have your vaccine.

"I encourage you not to ring your practice at the moment. We can't book you in any quicker by doing that, and we will be contacting you.

"As you may have seen in the press there is a mass vaccination centre opening at Epsom Downs Racecourse. There are some people being invited to that site. That's absolutely fine. If you do have your vaccine there you will need to go back in 12 weeks."

Dr Merrifield also emphasised the safeness of the vaccine and the need to follow the current rules in place.
