Following a survey conducted by Kingston council in 2020, we will see 540 new trees planted across the borough this winter, with over half (347) selected by Kingston residents.

Local people were invited to pick up to three places that they would like to see new trees planted this winter, as well as which species they would like to see more of.

Available planting locations were as follows:

Roads with space for new trees in existing pits

Suitable grass verges

Local parks

The types of trees that people were able to choose from included apple, maple, cherry and pear. You can see the full range of tree species that were on offer HERE

The original plan was to plant 500 trees, with 250 set aside for requests.

241 people submitted requests and 98% of those have been fulfilled by the council, with a total of 347 trees planted in locations selected by the residents.
