Kingston Council will be hosting an introduction webinar to their 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme this Thursday (October 27th).

In addition to the support being offered to refugees fleeing the war-torn Ukraine from Russia's illegal invasion through donations and volunteering communally, some Kingston residents have been able to extend aid further by hosting Ukrainian families.

Residents are able to sign up to host a Ukrainian family through the council's Home for Ukraine scheme where a matching process is completed by National Government teams.

Thursday's webinar, which will run from 6pm - 7pm, will offer an insight into the scheme for those interested, or to households who have already signed up but have not yet been assigned a family to sponsor.

To attend the webinar, users need to reserve a spot which can be done here.

Further information for supporting Ukrainian guests can be found via the council's website which offers guidance on how to provide a welcoming and comforting environment.

The Open University is also offering a free online course for people housing, caring for or working with Ukrainians in the UK.

The course focuses on Ukrainian culture and language and has been developed specifically for UK residents hosting refugees, and service providers working with people who have arrived from Ukraine. The OU has also translated into Ukrainian its package of free online resources for Ukrainian refugees in the UK including courses from English language to articles on writing a CV.

Details can be found here.
