Stats are more and more a huge part of journalism.

Since the start of the COVID outbreak us journalists have been bombarding you with stats.

Deaths, cases, cases per 100,000 and so much more have dominated the headlines.

I don't know about you but I constantly know how many cases per 100,00 there are in my local area.

This reliance on stats in news was unimaginable just 12 months ago.

Now we are obsessed by them because it is these stats that we're relying on to get our freedom back.

More and more maths is becoming an important part of journalism and understanding these stats is crucial.

The vaccination count continues to go up and the cases are coming down - this is good news.

Now deaths need to fall substantially and we will nearing the end of this third and hopefully final lockdown.
