A local female darts club, which already has five different teams across Teddington and Twickenham, is set to expand into Kingston and Surbiton.

The Women's Ammateur Darts League (TWADL) will be hosting its first Kingston taster session at The Bricklayers Arms pub on Hawks Road from 7.30pm - 9.30pm on Wednesday, 21 October, ahead of the new team launch in January.

The second will take place at The Elm Tree on Victoria Road, Surbiton from 7.30pm - 9.30pm on Thursday, 12 November.

And the third will take place at The Canbury Arms from 7.30pm - 9.30pm on Tuesday, 17 November.

WADL's taster sessions are for "women who are interested in joining the new team and want to come along, meet some people and give it a go before deciding whether they'd like to join for the January season," according to one of its founding members, Hannah.

No darts experience is needed at all, and women can go to the sessions on their own - they do not need to know anyone else attending.

Hannah added: "TWADL truly is for all ages and abilities, and most of our members had never picked up a dart before joining.

"The darts are really just a fun way of bringing people together; it's much more about having a regular fun night out, meeting people locally and being part of a social group than how good (or bad!) you are at darts."

Due to demand, there are only two spaces left at each of the three sessions. TWADL will then operate a waiting list.

Those attending the sessions will get the chance to sign up to join a new TWADL team starting at the pubs in January.

TWADL currently has five teams, which it says will grow to 10 in January across the local area, which Hannah said "is so exciting".

She added: "It's a really happy, fun community which is also getting quite a bit of attention - for example we were asked to appear on Joe Lycett's TV show The Lycett Arms last week on Channel 4."

As always, taster sessions are completely free and include a complimentary house drink. All ages 18+ are welcome, and all abilities.

People can RSVP by visiting TWADL's website here.

Speaking about the club, Hannah said: "TWADL is a fun, relaxed, social darts community for women. We use darts as a really simple way to bring women together in their local pub, particularly women who might not otherwise know each other or have played darts before.

"It's actually less about the darts, and more about creating a regular, sociable night where women can meet people locally, have a laugh and become part of a community.

"Our teams have six members and meet once a week for a two hour practice session, with each season running for 10 weeks.

"We run three seasons a year, and each week has a structured programme of darts drills and games, so people can improve while keeping things relaxed and fun. We also organise inter-team events and wider TWADL socials at our partner venues."
