River levels are expected to be high because of small tidal surge as increasing flow, it has been revealed.

The forecast high tide at Richmond is 4.60mAOD at 6am today, Monday 6 January.

Flooding of low-lying roads and footpaths is expected, which may exist for one to two hours either side of high tide. Flooding of properties is not expected.

It is believed that there is a possibility of flooding for Putney Embankment, Chiswick Mall and Strand on the Green, Thames Bank at Mortlake, Ranelagh Drive (TW1), Friars Lane and Water Lane, Riverside and The Embankment at Twickenham, and the Towpath below Teddington Lock.

Astronomical tide levels are falling/rising.

The river flow at Teddington Weir is high for this time of year at 180 cubic metres per second and is rising quickly.

It is anticipated that the flows will remain high for the next few days.

The situation is being closely monitored and updates will be given later today or as the situation changes.
