The Fircroft Trust could be set to leave its Surbiton home of 40 years.

The Trust has a mental health centre on Ditton Road.

This centre supports adults with moderate to severe mental health problems and learning disabilities in the local area.

In a statement on Facebook The Fircroft Trust said:

"We have been informed by RBK, without consultation or notice, to vacate our beloved Mental Health Resource Centre on Ditton Road.

"The Fircroft Trust has leased this building for over 40 years and provide a haven for over 75 people who have varying degrees of mental health challenges.

"At a time when there is a national crisis in mental health, withdrawing this essential support system is devastating for our local community.

"We are looking to our community to help us.

"We are urgently seeking new premises in the Chessington, Surbiton or Tolworth area that would be suitable for us to resume the face-to-face support services that is so missed by our service users.

"If you can help, or know of a local building, please get in contact with us - email: [email protected]."

Kingston Council are keen to make sure that The Fircroft Trust finds a new home.

A spokesperson from the council told Nub News:

"Kingston Council really values the work the Fircroft Trust does in our community. Unfortunately their building can't be used at the moment because the property isn't safe and we are actively investigating the structural problems there.

"We want The Fircroft Trust to continue to thrive and are actively working with them to find them alternative accommodation for their immediate needs which they feel is suitable.

"We are working hard with Fircroft to find a solution and will continue to do so. In the meantime we continue to commission The Fircroft Trust to work with Kingston residents with mental health needs and have commissioned extra services in recent months.

"The mental health crisis which COVID-19 has caused means their work is needed more than ever. Because of the COVID-19 crisis the Trust, like other organisations, is currently providing its services digitally."

Talks between Kingston Council and The Fircroft Trust are ongoing so a new home can be found.
