Extinction Rebellion Kingston took part in a mass bike ride through the borough over the weekend, in a bid to highlight air pollution and promote cycling ahead of the UK's clean air day this Thursday, 16 June.

Keen cyclists rendezvoused at the Kingston Environment Centre at 2pm on Saturday afternoon before setting off around the borough equipped with music, promoting the environmental benefits residents can achieve opting for a bicycle for their travel rather than their car or public transport.

The cycle was followed by art blocking in Kingston marketplace and a host of vegan treats.

Every year, air pollution cases cause up to 36,000 deaths in the UK.

The World Health Organisation and the UK government are using Thursday's clean air day to highlight how vital clean air is for the quality of life for residents across the country.
