Voices of Hope, a registered charity helping to feed the isolated and vulnerable in the Kingston borough, will see donations received between 14 – 21 June matched by the Childhood Trust, the London based child poverty charity.

Initially establishing in 2019, Voices of Hope became a registered charity in January 2020.

The Kingston-based organisation focused on restoring hope to people facing life battle's including the recovery of violence and abuse, dealing with long-term mental and physical challenges and fighting isolation and social anxiety.

The charity's mission was focused upon the running of choirs, but when the pandemic struck, Voices of Hope saw an opportunity to enhance their reach to the local community.

In collaboration with Kingston council, local businesses and charitable organisations, a community led effort resulted in over 30,000 meals-on-wheels sent to those most in need.

After becoming aware of the struggles families on low-incomes were having gaining access to healthy foods, Voices of Hope launched their initiative Brite Box (BB).

The meal kit provided all the ingredients required to cook a healthy meal for a whole family on a budget and were distributed to families identified by schools or youth groups of being at risk to food insecurity.

After receiving overwhelming amounts of positive feedback, Voices of Hope have used Bright Box to continue to work with families struggling with the cost of living crisis as the country re-emerges from Covid-19.

The family meal recipe kits are sent weekly and provide all the ingredients necessary to prepare and eat a healthy meal for five together.

Brite Box's work has continued to grow, helping families to budget, but also working to encourage a love of healthy cooking within families from a young age.

Due to the ever-growing demand for Voices of Hope's Brite Box's, the charity is calling on residents to offer up donations to allow them to continue their work across the borough.

The Childhood Trust, dedicated to alleviating the impact of child poverty on children and young people living in the capital, have agreed to match all donations made to Voices of Hope between 14 – 21 June.

All those who donate through the Big Give platform during the time period will receive a free Brite Box recipe book, comprised of the charity's 10 most popular recipes.

Voices of Hope will be at the Surbiton Farmers Market this Saturday, 18th June, with their Brite Box recipe books, children's games and a host of children activities and encourage residents to come and say hello.
