Local residents were advised keep their windows and doors closed due to a significant amount of smoke in the area. They were also advised to avoid the area.

Control Officers took the first of 54 calls at 4.54pm on Tuesday and mobilised crews from Kingston, Wimbledon, Surbiton and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 7.09pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
