Council tax is set to rise in Kingston.

The council will increase the charge by 4.99% for the financial year of 2021/22.

This once again makes Kingston have the most expensive council tax in London.

A band D property cost £1974.80 in council tax last year.

This will now increase to £2,073 under the rise.

This rise is the maximum amount allowed under laws passed earlier this week.

The government abstained on the motion to raise the taxes allowing it to pass by 210 votes.

Labour also criticised the move.
