A clap has been announced to honour Captain Sir Tom Moore - who died yesterday at the age of 100.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will lead the event at 6pm.

Captain Tom, a World War Two veteran, raised almost £40million for NHS charities in lockdown by walking around his garden, just ahead of his 100th birthday.

Mr Johnson told the Commons: "We all now have the opportunity to show our appreciation for him and all that he stood for and believed in.

"That is why I encourage everyone to join in a national clap for Captain Tom and all those health workers for whom he raised money at 6pm this evening."

Captain Tom died having contracted COVID-19.
