Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP)  investigating an assault on board a Southwestern Railway (SWR) train from Surbiton to Basingstoke would like to identify a man in connection.

Between 11.40pm and just after midnight on Saturday, 14 June into Sunday, 15 June a man asleep on the train was awoken when he had water poured over his feet. He made a noise as he woke up.

Another man then threatened to punch the victim if he made the noise again, before assaulting and punching him repeatedly.

Passengers attempted to intervene.

The victim exited at Walton-on-Thames.

The man is believed to have left the train at Weybridge.

Officers believe the man in the image may have information that can help their investigation.

Anyone with information, who recognises the man or who may have seen the incident is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40  and quoting reference number 04 of 15 June.
