The British Sri Lankan Association (BRISLA) had much to celebrate at its annual Awards Ceremony held at the esteemed Royal Over-Seas League, known for its commitment to international friendship across the Commonwealth.

Established eleven years ago by Kingston-based Chair, Dr Zimar Sivardeen, The BRISLA Awards were set up to recognise the achievements, hard work and the professionalism of individuals and organisations who are seen to embody BRISLA's mission with community and inclusivity being at its heart in shaping a better future for all.

The focus this year was on the 'Leaders of the Future' who will inspire and bring vision to their chosen fields.

In their capacity as role models who have reached the pinnacle of their career and contribution to their industry, the winners will provide inspiration and mentorship to up-and-coming future business leaders.

Dr Zimar Sivardeen, BRISLA Chair and former director for over 20 years of Specsavers New Malden, said: "I would like to highlight the contribution of British Sri Lankans across business, healthcare, culture and public service.

"Special thanks go to our wonderful guests, speakers and the Award winners who have demonstrated outstanding contribution to their respective professions.

"I would also like to thank the Kandyan Dancers for giving such an uplifting and glittering performance this evening."
