206 new homes open at Norbiton estate

Another batch of residents have been invited to move into their new council homes at Cambridge Road Estate (CRE) in Norbiton.
In a post on Facebook on Monday (24 August), Councillor Olly Wehring said: "Letters have gone out today to the relevant residents on CRE: 'We are pleased to inform you that Blocks E1 to E6 (which include Barberry, Skimmia, Wisteria and Freesia Houses) have now been handed over to the Council and are ready to move into. We can now start planning dates for your tenancy sign-up and moving into your new home.'
"That's 206 new homes coming on-stream!
"At the same time, construction work continues on the second half of Phase One (along Cambridge Rd) and the planning application for Phase Two (behind (& including) The Bull & Bush) should come to committee for decision very soon."
The regeneration of the estate, which began in late 2022, has "been shaped from the ground up by the people who live there", says Kingston Council. The scheme will ultimately deliver 2,170 new homes.
This includes a total of 1,148 affordable homes, addressing the borough's growing and urgent housing need.
The first homes at Daisy Court, which welcomed 42 new households, opened in March this year.
