On Monday, singer-songwriter and former X-factor star Lucy Spraggan took to Instagram, where she made an exciting announcement to her loyal fanbase.

"Did someone say 'A SHOW?' Yes, they did. Very quietly and very hopefully."

Sheffield-born singer Lucy Spraggan made a memorable, if brief, impact during her stint on the X Factor in 2012 before quitting the show early. Now, she is arguably one of its biggest success stories, making regular appearances on the UK top 20 album charts. The singer is also the only former X Factor contestant to ever perform at Glastonbury - twice, in fact!

To celebrate the release of her new album Choices, Lucy Spraggan is returning to Kingston to play at a concert presented by Banquet Records, a favourite of local music lovers.

The concert will take place in Kingston's largest nightclub, Pryzm, and will be held on Wednesday, August 11. Lucy is one of the first musicians to confirm a post-lockdown performance in Kingston.

Following her decision to go sober 12 months ago, Lucy Spraggan's life has changed quite dramatically and the artist made some major transformations, which are reflected in her new album.

'Choices' is all about self-control and self-discovery, with songs that offer insight into the singer's new-found sobriety, weight loss and divorce. Spraggan has embraced a new fit and healthy lifestyle and is also in the process of healing after the break up of her marriage from former wife Georgina Gordon.

Lockdown has hit a lot of artists hard and Lucy is no exception. Last month, she opened up to the Metro about losing 'hundreds of thousands of pounds' in the pandemic and having to live off savings. This was following the cancellation of her tours in America, Europe, Australia and the UK, as well as all the festivals she was booked for.

"Buying a ticket to this is one of the best ways to support me", the former X-factor star appealed to her Instagram followers, praising them for their unwavering support.

"I always stand in the back of the record shop thinking no one will turn up and then, when I come out, there you are."

Tickets are on sale for £11 (£15 with CD and £25 with LP) here.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, dates are subject to change and refunds will be available.
