Kingston: two people taken to hospital after 4-car pile-up on Tolworth Broadway

Two people were rushed to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision in Kingston last Saturday (17 July).

A bus and 4 cars slammed into each other at Tolworth Broadway in Surbiton, just before 12.56pm.

Four victims were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Two of them, a man and a woman in her 40s, were then taken to hospital.

Police have confirmed that the woman's injuries are not life-threatening.

Following the crash the road was closed for 1 and a half hours.

Police are making enquiries about the incident and a man has been interviewed under caution.

Responding to a Nub News enquiry, a spokesperson for the Met's South-West Basic Command Unit said: "Police were called to a collision on the 17th July at around 1300HOURS involving four cars and a bus on Tolworth Broadway. London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade also attended the scene.

"A woman in her 40's was taken to hospital for treatment – her injuries are not life threatening. One male has been interviewed under caution as part of this investigation.

"The road was reopened at around 1430HOURS.

"Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson told Nub News: "We were called at 12.56pm on 17 July to reports of a road traffic collision on Tolworth Broadway, Surbiton.

"We sent two ambulance crews, two medics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene.

"We treated four people at the scene. Two of those treated were taken to hospital."

The reaction on social media

Reports of the crash were first circulated on the Kingston Neighbourhood group on Facebook.

Kingston resident Sjande Ijah warned residents to avoid Tolworth Broadway, in a post dated 12.54pm on Saturday 17 July.

She said that 3 cars and 1 bus had crashed into each other and multiple ambulances and fire trucks were on the scene.

Damo Carlin commented: "Just been past. Looks nasty.

"Some guy holding his ribs and seems in a lot of pain, his car wedged between a car in front and a bus behind."
