A man has been charged following an alleged protest outside Our Lady Immaculate Catholic Church in Tolworth on Wednesday night (23 September).

An eye witness took to social media to post about the event saying that they were awoken by outside noise.

They report that from around 11pm on Wednesday to 2am on Thursday (24 September), they could see three men shouting outside the church in what they believed to be a protest with one man on the roof of the building.

The eyewitness also reported seeing a police officer attend the scene.

A 36-year-old man has since been charged following the incident, and is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 8 October charged with use of threatening words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

A Met Police spokesperson told Nub News today (Monday, 28 September): "Police were called to Ewell Road, Surbiton at 23:25hrs on Wednesday, 23 September to reports of a disturbance.

"Officers attended the scene with the London Fire Brigade – and London Ambulance Service.

"A 36-year-old man was arrested after he threw objects and verbally abused emergency service workers. He was later charged as above."
