Kingston Post Office: latest update on town centre branch closure

29th Apr 2021 | Local News

Kingston Council may set up a pop-up Post Office to serve the local community after plans to relocate the central Kingston branch to the Bentall Centre collapsed.

The original Post Office located on Eden Street shut on 11 April in accordance with its lease to vacate the site and facilitate redevelopment of the area.

Kingston residents were informed the closure was temporary.

But new premises the Post Office secured in the Bentall Centre did not open on 23 April as scheduled.

Now Councillor Jon Tolley has advised alternative premises in central Kingston are now being sought.

He said: "Progress [to resume services] is being made and it looks like weeks – rather than months – away.

"In the meantime Council is looking to facilitate a pop-up option."
