A main path in Richmond Park will close for repair works which will take nearly two months to complete.

The Pen Ponds Causeway will be closed to the public from tomorrow (17 August) until October 4, the Royal Parks Police revealed in a Twitter post today.

The work will raise the height of the causeway to strengthen it and protect it against flooding.

Any authorised works/trade/construction vehicles will be using the closed roads between Sheen Gate, the Royal Ballet School, and Pen Ponds.

The Royal Parks said: "[We] appreciate that the causeway provides a very desirable section for many routine walks.

"However, pedestrians will not be able to walk through the work site for obvious safety reasons."
