CHRISTMAS has come to Kingston town centre which is dressed up in sparkles, snow, and all the shimmering lights you could ask for.

A German-style market and 'Alpine' village have arrived while a plethora of colourful festive decorations now adorn the pedestrianised shopping areas and ancient marketplace.

Among the attractions is a glittering red arch with giant lollipops on top - a yearly favourite which matches well with the new American Candy Store that it faces.

Down the road in Memorial Gardens is a huge Christmas 'bauble,' adorned with white and blue stars and big enough to fit people for selfies.

The ever-popular 'I heart Kingston' glowing sign is also back for 2021, this time on the riverside, where you can also find an array of decorations.

Shoppers can also experience the lights of Clarence Street, storefronts of John Lewis and the Bentalls Centre.

Two huge Christmas trees have been installed with spectacular decorations of red and gold.

Wooden chalet-style cabins also abound with market traders selling their wares as giant toy soldiers standing guard.

The decorations and market are all free, making them a less costly alternative to this year's light trails at Kew Gardens and Syon House.

Kingston Christmas market and lights will be on until 24 December so there's plenty of time to go and soak up the atmosphere - and take some festive photos.
