COVID-19 stats continue to move in the right direction in Kingston upon Thames.

The seven day average of cases is now 49.4 - the lowest it has been for months.

You have to look back to November 27th - during the second lockdown - to see when cases were last this low.

The seven day average then was 47.7.

There has been a dramatic fall in cases since lockdown was imposed in early January.

Cases reached their height on January 1st with the seven day average of 220.

The rate per 100,000 currently sits at 201 according to the latest Government statistics.

This is compared to 868 on January 4th.

Kingston sits around the UK average of 199 cases per 100,000.

Hospitalisations are also coming down in the borough.

There were159 COVID patients in hospital at the end of January - compared to 213 on January 13th.

These numbers continue to move in the right direction.

Deaths are also falling at a similar rate.

These statistics are positive news but we must continue to follow government guidelines to get the numbers down further.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to reveal the roadmap out of lockdown on February 22nd.
