Registered Nurse - Endoscopy Lead

To provide a high standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team

Essential

  • Registered Practitioner
  • Experience in Gastroenterology
  • Recognised endoscopy qualification
  • Evidence of endoscopy decontamination training
  • Ability to compile reports using IT systems
  • Reports to Department Manager / Clinical Lead

Desirables

  • Previous experience in achieving JAG accreditation
  • Previous experience in a senior position
  • Technical Skills and Application
  • To lead and organise the activities of the Endoscopy unit on a day to day basis.
  • To deliver an effective and efficient Endoscopy service to all users.
  • Provide clinical expertise within Endoscopy area and act as a resource.
  • Ensure that the endoscopy unit is prepared for use on a daily basis
  • In line with quality standards.

Technical Skills

  • To lead and organise the activities of the Endoscopy unit on a day to day basis.
  • To deliver an effective and efficient Endoscopy service to all users.
  • Provide clinical expertise within Endoscopy area and act as a resource.
  • Ensure that the endoscopy unit is prepared for use on a daily basis
  • In line with quality standards.
  • Ensure safe staffing levels on daily and rotational basis taking into account annual, study or other leave with the Clinical Lead.
  • Supervise Endoscopy staff to maintain a safe environment.
  • Ensure that all required decontamination records are maintained
  • Maintain decontaminate and operate technical equipment in line with manufacturers instructions
  • Organise repairs and service contracts for technical equipment
  • Ensure six monthly GRS audits are undertaken and action plans put in place for improvement.
  • To support new business initiatives within the Endoscopy Unit and assist with their implementation.
  • With support from the Matron, achieve / maintain JAG accreditation, to include completion of audit programme, organising and providing collated reports for the endoscopy user group

• Assessing competency of staff and identifying individual training needs
