Safeguarding Officer - Part Time 15 Hours - Mainstream Secondary School - Permanent Position - September Start

I am seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Safeguarding Officer to join a Mainstream Secondary School in Kingston Upon Thames. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of all students, providing support, and managing safeguarding concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding and Child Protection:

    • Act as the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns within the school.
    • Implement and uphold the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate actions are taken in response to safeguarding issues.
  • Support and Guidance:

    • Provide support and guidance to students experiencing safeguarding concerns.
    • Work closely with staff to ensure they understand and comply with safeguarding policies.
    • Liaise with external agencies, parents, and carers to address safeguarding concerns.
  • Training and Development:

    • Deliver safeguarding training sessions to staff and students.
    • Stay updated with the latest safeguarding legislation and best practices.
    • Promote a culture of safeguarding within the school community.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all safeguarding concerns and actions taken.
    • Prepare reports for senior leadership and external agencies as required.
    • Monitor and review safeguarding practices, making improvements where necessary.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure safeguarding is a priority.
    • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to safeguarding plans.
    • Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and external partners.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in a safeguarding or child protection role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of current safeguarding legislation and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Empathy and the ability to support vulnerable students.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and solution-focused approach to safeguarding.
