Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs? Our SEN school in New Malden is looking for a PMLD Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our committed, supportive team.

This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils aged 4-19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex medical needs, and sensory impairments. If you are compassionate, adaptable, and ready to help learners reach their full potential, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role:
  • Support students with PMLD in both 1:1 and small group settings across a range of curriculum areas.
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical needs (full training provided).
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, therapists, and other TAs to deliver tailored learning and therapeutic support.
  • Promote the use of specialist communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, Eye Gaze, and sensory approaches.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and enriching learning environment that supports each pupil's EHCP outcomes.
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD or complex learning needs (education or care setting).
  • A nurturing, patient, and positive approach to supporting learners with significant additional needs.
  • A team player who can take initiative, adapt to changing situations, and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to undertake training in manual handling, personal care, and medical protocols.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health & Social Care) are an advantage but not essential.
We Offer:
  • A warm, welcoming, and collaborative school community.
  • Extensive CPD and training opportunities tailored to SEN and PMLD support.
  • Strong leadership and staff wellbeing support.
  • A truly rewarding role where every day brings purpose

Safeguarding Statement: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
