Wednesday 20 May
Please join us for the final talk in the series. This time on the hot topic of Modern Slavery. Our main speaker will be Jiska Stieler - Women's Hub Co-ordinator at Voices of Hope and offers training to local churches on modern slavery.
Our main speaker:
Jiska Stieler, women's Hub Co-ordinator at Voices of Hope, a Kingston based charity supporting women and children, especially those facing gender-based violence, poverty, and systemic disadvantage, to rebuild their health, confidence, and long-term independence.
On the panel are:
Carole Murphy, Professor of Sociology and Applied Research and Director of the Bakhita Centre for Slavery, Safety and Social Justice, Jennifer Hyde and Chris Elliott, Diocesan officers and co-leads for Southwark against Modern Slavery who have run several Hidden Voices courses, designed by The Clewer Initiative to help groups to work on anti- modern slavery initiatives.
Our Host is:
Rev Joe Moffatt Team Rector of Kingston, Vicar of All Saints Kingston and chair of Kingston Faith and Belief Forum.
This is a FREE town hall style event with questions invited (and encouraged!) from audience members, as always, the talk will be recorded and available to watch on our youtube channel after the event. We are keen to have a broad "voice" in the audience (as we did in our previous talks) with an open and honest debate about the Christian response to this issue - our aim is to promote discussion in the public square on the big issues of today.
Doors and bar open from 6.15pm. The talks are ticketed so we can keep a tally of numbers but totally free of charge.
