Pottery - Introduction to Wheel Throwing

In this introduction to pottery wheel throwing course, you'll experience the essential steps of wheel throwing, from preparing and wedging the clay, to guided demonstrations that cover each stage of the throwing process: from centring and coning to opening up and forming basic cylindrical shapes.

With support and individual guidance, you'll develop your technique through practice, learning to create simple forms like cups or small vessels. We'll also cover essential finishing skills such as trimming and tidying your pieces, getting them for glazing and firing.

Whether you're curious to try something new or looking to build confidence at the wheel, this course offers a focused, supportive environment to get started with throwing.

Please note there are only 2 spaces available for this course. Students will benefit from 1-2 semi-private tutoring. This session will take place in our specialist 3D workshop alongside our Saturday Pottery Studio Session. Further courses to be released throughout the year.
