The houses in Ham

Richmond Housing Project (RHP) have recently completed a number of new affordable homes across several sites in Ham. The seven new homes are located on Clifford Road, Maguire Drive and Riverside Drive. The sites were previously home to several garages and were underutilised.

The sites were subsequently identified as an opportunity to create much needed new housing, especially homes that are fully accessible (which is the case with the bungalows that have been built).

Following the legal warning from Richmond Council, an unauthorised traveller camp has left Riverside Drive in Ham.

The unauthorised camp arrived on Wednesday (3rd March) and left yesterday afternoon before the 4pm deadline issued by the Council.

Travellers who arrived on Riverside Drive in Ham this morning have been issued with a legal request for them to they leave the site within 24 hours.

The unauthorised camp arrived today (3th March) at around 10am. As soon as the Council received reports of their arrival, officers and the parks enforcement contractor, Park Guard, were sent to visit the travellers to carry out a welfare check. Following this, they were issued with a legal eviction notice.

The cross-party group London Councils has welcomed the Chancellor's decision to extend the £20-a-week uplift to Universal Credit for six months, but describes this as the "bare minimum" needed to stop homelessness rates increasing even further.

The umbrella body, which represents all 32 boroughs and the City of London Corporation, says the government should show far greater ambition in addressing homelessness through welfare policy changes and investment in social housing.
