A new mural of Bowie as Ziggy Stardust has appeared in Tolworth near the site of the old Toby Jug pub (Image: The Community Brain)

A MUSIC festival celebrating the launch of David Bowie's alter-ego Ziggy Stardust will take place at Tolworth Station next week.

The event marks 50 years to the day that the fictional rockstar made his debut at The Toby Jug, a former pub off the A3 at Tolworth and back then famous as a music venue for rising stars of the 1960s and 70s.

Kingston Council is flying the rainbow flag at its Guildhall HQ to celebrate LGBT History Month

KINGSTON Council is calling on residents to contribute their experiences of local LGBT+ life for a year-long project mapping the borough's heritage.

It comes as the borough celebrates LGBT+ History Month - a month-long event raising awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, held in the UK every February.
