A local archery club is looking for a new home in Kingston.

Chessington Bowmen is appealing for help to find a new outdoor base after being told it needs to relocate from its current home at Imber Court.

The established archery club is now searching for a suitable site within the Borough of Kingston, having already explored several possible locations without success, including Kingston University, Byhurst Farm, Hollyfield School and King George's Recreation Ground.

The club needs approximately 40 metres by 150 metres of usable land, together with parking and space for a 20ft storage container.

The club says that Kingston Council is supporting the relocation and has allocated £7,000 towards relocation costs, provided Chessington Bowmen is able to secure a suitable new site within the borough.

The club is now hoping that local residents, landowners, schools, sports organisations or businesses may know of a suitable location that has not yet been considered.

Chessington Bowmen supports archers across a wide range of ages and abilities, from complete beginners and recreational members through to highly experienced competitors.

The club includes an adult member who has shot with Archery GB and won the Surrey Championships, as well as a junior member who has competed at national championship level and achieved a high placing.



Chessington Bowmen says it is "keen to remain within Kingston so that it can continue providing opportunities for local people to take part in archery and develop within the sport".

A spokesperson for Chessington Bowmen added: "We are very keen to secure a permanent new home within Kingston and continue the club's role in the local community.

"We have already explored a number of possible sites, but unfortunately none has proved suitable so far.

"We are hoping that by sharing our appeal more widely, someone may know of a piece of land, sports facility or other suitable site that we have not yet considered.

"We would be extremely grateful to hear from anyone who may be able to help."
