Three children's play areas in Kingston upon Thames have re-opened with brand new features as part of a million-pound scheme to improve the borough's parks.

Sir Francis Barker Recreation Ground, RAF Chessington Playground and Athelstan Recreation Ground have all been revamped over the past three months, with details of their completion announced by Kingston Council last Friday (11 June)

Harrison Ford, star of Indiana Jones and Star Wars, recently dropped into a bike store in Hampton Wick, just over Kingston bridge, to the amazement of staff and customers.

The Hollywood legend, 78, has been filming Indiana Jones in the North of England but took a break out of his busy schedule to visit Sigma Sports on Wednesday (9 June) this week.

The Royal Parks police is reminding visitors to take extra care during deer birthing season after young deer was hit and killed by a cyclist in Richmond Park last weekend.

The fallow deer fawn was knocked down on Broomfield Hill, which runs along the south-east edge of the park, on Saturday (12 June.)

Today's story is one for all the budding gnat-uralists out there, as only six years ago a new species of fly was discovered right here in Kingston's Bushy Park!

Amateur dipterist Peter Chandler was studying fungus gnats he'd found in the park's Waterhouse Woodland Gardens, when he observed that the gnats' genitals were different to those of the species common in Britain, Grzegorzekia collaris.

Kingston and Surbiton MP Ed Davey has reacted to plans that his constituency is set to change shape as part of widespread reforms to electoral boundaries in England that were announced yesterday (8 June).

As we reported , the proposed changes to Kingston and Surbiton would see the constituency lose Old Malden and part of Motspur park to Wimbledon while gaining some residential streets in North Kingston.
