Kingston student wins award for sustainable, gender-fluid fashion collection

A graduate from Kingston University has won an award in the Graduate Fashion Foundation 2021 Awards for the Considered Fashion Prize, which addresses sustainability and responsible design.

Mimi Simpson, 21, created a sustainable and gender-fluid collection using reclaimed clothing and upholstery collected from charity shop Mary's Living and Giving in Teddington and donations received from the wider Kingston community.

Digital sensors are being installed in empty homes on the Cambridge Road Estate to discourage anti-social behaviour and squatting, Kingston Council announced today (30 June).

The Norbiton estate is undergoing regeneration and a number of residents have moved out so that existing buildings can be demolished.

7 contemporary artworks by leading artists across the UK have been chosen to be part of Kingston's new sculpture trail.

The winning artworks were revealed today (29 June) for the trail which has been organised by Kingston First , Canbury Community Trust, Kingston Council and Kingston University.

Filming for popular BBC series Antiques Roadshow took place at Ham House last week, attracting the attention and curiosity of local residents.

As we previously reported , production for the show started on Thursday 24 June and vehicles, tents and film crew could all be seen from outside the stately home.

Kingston Council has become one of the first London boroughs to join Breathe London, which will see them trialling an air pollution scheme that collects data from areas around school streets.

Breathe London was set up by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan in September 2020 and its website displays air quality levels from 195 sensors dotted around London.
