Kingston: Local team Harlequins has joined up with Tickets For Troops

LOCAL rugby team Harlequins is joining forces with the military charity Tickets For Troops to offer free tickets to members of the UK's Armed Forces in recognition of their efforts in keeping us safe and secure, the Club is proud to announce.

The Club will make tickets available free of charge for both Men's and Women's matches wherever possible as part of the partnership with the charity which was set up in 2009 and has given over 1.6million tickets away for sports, theatre and music events since launch.

Christmas may be a time to celebrate with family and friends, but for many across Kingston it is one of the most isolating and lonely times of the year.

Many people have no-one to exchange a gift with and no time to spare in which to cook a Christmas meal - the devastating reality for many carers, aged 65 years and over, who are caring for people with debilitating conditions such as dementia.

KINGSTON County Hall, the former seat of Surrey County Council and a survivor of the London Blitz, is set to become 341 new homes and a flexible workspace.

The imposing Grade II listed building is almost 130 years old and still bears the scars of World War Two, when it was struck by three bombs including one which killed 3 people and caved in the canteen's roof.

A TEMPORARY cycle lane on Hampton Court Road brought in last year to help with social distancing has now been made permanent by Richmond Council.

The lane, which goes from the Kingston-bound stretch of road from Hampton Court roundabout to Bushy Park's Lion Gate, was brought in to encourage cycling amid the social distancing concerns of the pandemic.

Kingston schoolboy arrested over recent muggings

A KINGSTON schoolboy has been arrested and is being investigated by police after pupils were being targeted by muggers on roads near the school gates.

The boy was arrested last week on Friday 19 November in relation to nine incidents of robbery and attempted robbery, police confirmed to Nub News today.
