Your guide to the Platinum Jubilee in Kingston

Kingston is set to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this week with a variety of special events, street parties and more. 

The Platinum Jubilee, which marks 70 years since the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne, will be celebrated over four days from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June. Thursday and Friday are bank holidays. 

Here's our rundown of what's on in the Kingston over the long weekend. 

Lighting the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon

The Mayor of Kingston will be lighting the borough's Platinum Jubilee Beacon, joining others around the UK and across the Commonwealth, in celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's 70 years of service.

Bring family and friends along to view the beacon lighting from Kingston riverside on Thursday 2 June at 9.45pm. The boat will be located on the River Thames near to Eagle Brewery Wharf and Minima Yacht Club.

Queen's party at Jubilee Square on Cocks Crescent, New Malden

In partnership with Kingston Council, New Malden Town Centre have recently opened Jubilee Square on Cocks Crescent, New Malden, to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

This is the first official community event in the space and to celebrate a host of exciting lineups ave been planned, including dance and music performances from the Kingston ballet school and the Korean senior's choir, amongst others.

There will also be stalls selling handmade goods and delicious French, Korean, and Sri Lankan food, as well as a Tombola. Head on downing and join in with the community celebrations on Saturday 4 June between 11am to 5pm.

Free concert at Canbury Bandstand

Bring a picnic and come along to the Bandstand at Canbury Gardens on 5 June and enjoy a free concert from the wonderful London Saxophone Choir between 3pm - 5pm.

Bentall Centre

The Bentall Centre will be buzzing with family-fun activities for your little ones to enjoy this Jubilee weekend with its royal-themed Garden Party Games on the Lawn, Bunting Design Craft Activities, and the 'Spot the crown' competition which has a £230 children's prize bundle to be won!

4th June 11am - 4pm.

Kingston Museum

Fellow historians and art enthusiasts, come along to Kingston Museum this Jubilee weekend for a series of Jubilee-themed evens for families, including a free public lecture tour exploring the royal portraiture of Queen Elizabeth II, a free kids art & craft activity, and design your own community bunting!

The Albion Kingston

The Albion Kingston will be hosting family-fun activities across the bank holiday weekend for you and your family to come along and take part in, including family games and arts & crafts, live music, Bottomless Brunch and watching the celebrations on the big screen!
