Young man, 21, hurried to hospital after being attacked with hammer in clear daylight

A 21-year-old man has been dashed into hospital with a head injury after being attacked with a hammer in clear daylight.

Met police were called to Eden Street in Kingston town 8:10am this morning, Saturday 2 September.

A Met Spokesperson said there was reports of "a man in possession of a hammer, and acting aggressively".

After arriving at the scene, the 21-year-old was found with a head injury and taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

The spokesperson added it is waiting for an update on the young man's condition.

The alleged attacker was detained nearby and subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and remains in police custody.

Sections of Eden street, from Jiva Dental, Yorkshire Building Society and the edge of Primark are cordoned off.

Two police vans and three officers were at scene at 1pm today.
