Work to begin on Kingston cycle lane soon

Work connecting the cycle lane between Kingston's Aldi and the London Road Junction is set to begin this month.
The council has been given a start date of Monday, 29 September. The first phase of works will be between Waters Road and King Henry's Road and will last until late January 2026.
Speaking about the news, Councillor Olly Wehring, the councillor for Norbiton and Chair of Kingston & North Kingston Neighbourhood, said: "For around three years, we've been waiting for the Kingston/Cambridge Rd cycle lane to be completed. It's little wonder the cycle lane that had been built has looked like a white elephant.
"Finally, however, we are going to get the full length of Kingston/Cambridge Road safer for those who'd like to cycle.
"These cycle lanes aren't for those who cycle already, it's for those who've been stuck in traffic on Kingston/Cambridge Rd and are willing and able to switch out of their cars and onto their bikes.
"The work will take place in phases, with the first phase starting at Waters Road junction and finishing at Archdale Place. While there are likely to be lane closures for phase one, there won't be the need for any temporary traffic lights. Phase one work starts at the end of this month and will likely finish in January."
