Work on Kingston’s new pool is progressing

Construction on the swimming pool at Kingston's new leisure centre is well underway, with the structure starting to take shape.
Work on the new Kingfisher Leisure Centre began in June. Now and just a few months later, the site is showing significant progress.

The new centre is part of the council's commitment to providing accessible and quality health and wellbeing facilities for its residents.
The facility will include a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool, a teaching and learning pool, a large gym, multi-purpose studios, squash courts, a sports hall, a soft play area, a health suite, and an on-site café.
Outside, the plans also include improved landscaping around the centre with new seating, a play area, and enhanced pedestrian routes connecting to Kingston Museum, Library, and the town centre.
The facility was designed by architects Roberts Limbrick and it is being delivered by contractors Pellikaan and Alliance Leisure through the UK Leisure Framework.
This project replaces the previous Kingfisher Leisure Centre, which closed in 2019 and was demolished in 2022.
It is planned to be more sustainable, accessible, and in line with community feedback.
