Wickes in Norbiton could become a Lidl as plans are submitted

The Wickes in Norbiton could be about to undergo a major change.

That's because Lidl have applied to Kingston Council to change the site into one of their own shops.

While we have an Aldi in Kingston the nearest Lidl is located in New Malden.

This application was posted last week and validated on Wednesday.

It is now under consideration - but this is not the first time Lidl have applied to build a store in the area.

Previously in 2018 they applied for a site on Manorgate Road next to Norbiton Station - but this never went any further.

The proposal reads that Lidl want to: "Change of Use of existing retail warehouse to enable sale of food and non-food retail items, to include elevational alterations to building, installation of plant and a sub-station, re-configuration of site car park, increase in floorspace at mezzanine level, landscaping, servicing, and other associated works."
