Every Thursday we round up all the eye-catching events occurring in your area over the weekend.

All Weekend

Peter Pan, Rose Theatre 

Chasing his runaway shadow, a mischievous young boy crash lands through an open window and meets a headstrong young girl not yet ready to face growing up. With a sprinkle of fairy dust, they take flight on a whirlwind festive voyage over pirate ships, through mermaid lagoons and into the heart of Neverland.

Original Arts & Crafts by Kingston University Students, Bentall Centre 

Kingston University's Studio KT1 is excited to gather our fantastic students and give them a platform to showcase their work in conjunction with the Bentall Centre. Studio KT1 is a unique design studio run by and for the students at Kingston University to help them get a head start in the creative industry. 

The market will feature a range of original, handmade goods, from jewellery and fine art prints to ceramics and stationery. Fridays (10am-6.30pm), Saturdays (10am-6.30pm) and Sundays (11am-4.30pm). 

Friday 8 December

Eclipse Choir Christmas Concert, All Saints Church, 7:30pm-10pm 

Eclipse Choir will be 'Hauling out the Holly' and performing a very special selection of Christmas songs and carols to celebrate the festive season. 

Christmas Rockeoke, The Fighting Cocks, 7:30pm  

Come sing/shout/scream your heart out! Lyrics projected in the venue, your fave songs playing through the PA, a swanky karaoke system and it'll be just like you're the real deal. If you need some liquid courage before you take to the stage we have drinks deals, cocktails, shots and ice cold Jager for your nerves.

Mayor's Senior Citizens Christmas Party, Guildhall, 3pm-5pm 

The Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Cllr Diane White, will be hosting the party at the Guildhall in Kingston, which will include refreshments and entertainment from the London Korean Choral Society and the Lucie Benson Dance School. 

The Shiraz Mirza Community Hall Trust are kindly sponsoring the event and a raffle will be held on behalf of the Mayor's Charitable Trust. This year it's supporting Voices of Hope and Kingston Charitable Foundation. 

Saturday 9 December

The First Father Christmas, FUSEBOX, 10:30am-11:30am or 1:30pm-2:30pm 

Story Storks presents The First Father Christmas, the Fabulously Funny Christmassy tale of St Nicholas specially written for kids from two years up. Set in Roman-occupied Turkey, this immersive theatre show is suitable for those of all religions (or none) and tells how St Nicholas's generosity gave rise to Christmas Traditions that we still celebrate today, including hanging stockings in the fireplace, munching on gold coins and why the big man himself comes down the chimney at Christmas time.

Series favourites, this renowned quartet make a welcome return, in an eclectic seasonal programme, joined by Mike Pratt on bass, and Ben Costello on piano. £16 on the door or 10% discount via www.ticketweb.uk. Full-time students and under-16s admitted free. 

Sarah Spencer's Transatlantic Band, The Grey Horse, 9pm, doors from 7pm 

This six-piece ensemble is an exciting combination of seasoned veterans and fresh young talent performing the music of the Big Easy, covering the entire history of New Orleans: from its earliest days when ragtime was transitioning to jazz, through the influences of the great brass bands and Storeyville houses of ill repute, to the mainstay of music including the Preservation Hall Jazz Bands. 

Sunday 10 December 

Sunday Night Quiz, The Albion, 7:30pm 

Get your thinking caps on and sharpen your competitive streak with a pub quiz! 1st prize is a £50 tab voucher with rollover jackpot questions. Food served until 10pm.

Kingston Christmas Markets, Market Place 

Get into the festive spirit at Kingston Christmas Market, one of the most magical Christmas markets in London. Wander around under twinkling fairy lights, enjoy a mug of mulled wine and choose from an assortment of delicious food to get you in the Christmas spirit. Grab your winter warmers and head over to the traditional market town of Kingston-Upon-Thames this Christmas.

Santa's Grotto, Fenwicks 

Make Fenwick part of your festive traditions with a visit to the magical Santa's Grotto at Fenwick Kingston from 22 November – 24 December 2023. Immerse yourself in the magical Grotto – complete with Santa's picture-ready sleigh, singing reindeers and cheeky elves who'll invite you to get crafty.
