Every Thursday we round up all the eye catching events occurring in your area over the weekend.

Friday, January 20th 

Runner at Banquet Records

For the last five years, Los Angeles-based musician Noah Weinman has been Runnner, and for much of those five years, Runnner has been working. Working on his 2021 collection album, Always Repeating; working as a producer on the Skullcrusher records; and, of course, working towards his debut full-length, Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out. 

To celebrate the release of the new album, Runner visits Kingston's renowned record shop to play an in-store set.

Friday night comedy at the Grey Horse

Welcome to the home of Kingston's original and longest running comedy night. 

A night of irresistible improv comedy from some of London's finest players. Kickstart the weekend with a razor-sharp, spontaneous, brand new and never-to-be-seen-again show that will leave you saying, like after ALL the best nights out, "you really had to be there…"

You'll be asked for suggestions which will be turned into unforgettable scenes, characters, and songs, all made up right there on the spot. Had a particularly eventful night out recently? They might just ask you about it…

Saturday, January 21st

Woodland Management with the Kingston University Biodiversity Action Group (KUBAG)

KUBAG have been managing the woodland at Kingston Hill for some time, with their main work involving the removal of invasive plant species that have spread into the woodland and controlling the extent of native bramble, to create room for other ground flora species to flourish. 

During this event, volunteers will remove invasive bamboo from the site. Experienced guidance and a good workout guaranteed!

Booking is essential for this free event, as well as the booking details (name and email) please email the following extra information to [email protected]:

  • Dietary allergies - snack are normally provided
  • Mobile number - Used to contact people on the day of the event, if KUBAG has to cancel due to weather or our meeting location changes. 

Make your own lantern with Kingston Library for Lunar New Year

Come along for a fun and interactive workshop where your little ones can make their own paper lantern in time to celebrate Lunar New Year! 

The workshop will be at Kingston Library, and parents and guardians can help children put together their lanterns. 

There will be two session slots between 10am-11am and 11am-12pm. This workshop is suitable for children ages 4-10.

You won't need to book, but please note that the numbers are limited.
