Seething Village Fete & Community Sports Day – Saturday, 11 May

Part of the Surbiton Food Festival, this village fete at Victoria Recreation Ground will feature classic sports day events like egg and spoon or sack races, as well as a dog show.

Insider sources have also shared that competitors can expect a hobby horse race with a fresh set of steeds at their disposal!

The event will take place alongside live music, community picnics, food stalls and a charity bar run by nearby pub and long-time supporter of The Community Brain, The Lamb.

Proceedings begin at 11am at Victoria Recreation Ground along Balaclava Road in Surbiton.

Charity Plant and Produce Sale – Saturday, 11 May

This free-to-enter event will see house & garden plants, cakes & preserves, jewellery, books & toys, gifts and cards, refreshments and Korean food for sale all under one roof!

The church has said proceeds from the event will go to Kingston Association for the Blind and the Fircroft Trust.

The sale runs at Kingston Methodist Church along Fairfield South from 11am to 1pm.

Acoustic Open Mic Night – Saturday, 11 May

The cosy Old London Road Café's monthly acoustic open mic is coming up this Saturday.

To performers among you, OLR Café says:

"Are you ready to let your talent shine in an intimate and soulful setting? Join us at Old London Road Café for an unforgettable evening of acoustic magic at our Acoustic Open Mic Night! 

"Whether you're a seasoned performer or just looking to share your passion for music, this is the stage for you!"

Those looking to perform can get in touch via [email protected] or on their socials to guarantee a spot – expect to play 2 to 3 songs in your set.

Free entry. The night kicks off at 7pm at the café along – you guessed it – Old London Road.

Guy Shoham's solo show 'POST' – Saturday, 11 May

RuptureXIBIT is excited to welcome back Rupture allum Guy Shoham with his solo show 'POST'.

Shoham says the show uses the humble Post-it note to bring new context to his previous work.

The artist says: "Post-it notes as a way of reminding myself of events from the past years, unresolved issues and unfinished business.

"It became a way to reflect on the past and understand how my choices brought me to where I am."

The show's opening event starts at 7pm on Saturday at RuptureXIBIT. The work will be shown in the gallery until 12 May.
