What's On in Kingston this weekend

By Ellie Brown - Local Democracy Reporter 21st Dec 2021

Christmas is almost here and there are plenty of festive events happening in Kingston this weekend.

We've chosen four of them to highlight in our pick of the week below. And you can also find more local activities visit our What's On section!

SATURDAY: Christmas Street Theatre and Circus Performers

Stilt-walking reindeer, acrobatic elves and beautiful ballerinas can be found in Kingston town centre every Saturday in December, as part of InKingston's Christmas events.

Or wander down to Eagle Brewery Wharf by Kingston riverside for festive stalls and live music, plus mulled wine and photo opportunities with the 'I heart Kingston' sign.

Time: All-day Saturday, Cost: FREE

SATURDAY: Kingston Choral Society at St Andrew's Church, Surbiton

Kingston Choral Society's Christmas concert features many of the traditional Christmas Carols we know and love, with sing-a-long opportunities for the audience.

The performance will also feature a modern piece called 'Make We Merry', by contemporary composer, David Bednall - an eight-movement work weaving together texts from across the centuries.

Time: 7.30pm

Cost: From £7 to £14, see website for details

SATURDAY: TJ Johnson and his band at Ram Jam Records

A night of jazz, blues and soul from renowned vocalist and pianist TJ Johnson, with his band of top London musicians.

Inspired by the great performers Ray Charles, Nina Simone, and Frank Sinatra, among others, TJ's distinctive voice and unique personal stage manner create an intimate yet exciting atmosphere - and Ram Jam Records is the perfect place to dance the night away.

Time: Doors from 7pm

Cost: £12 for advance tickets

SATURDAY and SUNDAY: Christmas Shire horse carriage rides in Bushy Park

Take a trip around Bushy Park on a historic Shire horse and help support conservation of the park's wonderful nature.

The ride lasts 25 minutes and includes a festive drink and snack. Proceeds go towards conservation initiatives in the park.

Time: Between 10.40am and 2.20pm, every day (except Christmas Day).

Cost: £15 per person, children under 2 years can ride on an adult's lap for free
